Diamond in the Desert — Where Racing History Meets a New Beginning
A Legacy Built on Racing, Community, and Tradition
Located in Somerton, Arizona, just outside Yuma, Cocopah Speedway has long been a destination for dirt track racing enthusiasts throughout Yuma County and the Southwest.
Known as Diamond in the Desert, Cocopah Speedway represents more than just racing. It's a place where families gather, friendships are built, competitors chase victory, and generations of fans come together to experience the excitement of motorsports.
From the roar of engines to the thrill of side by side competition, the Speedway has created memories that extend far beyond the checkered flag.
October 2026 — The Return of the Diamond in the Desert
A new chapter begins October 15, 2026.
With Travis Peery, CEO of TRP Motorsports, helping lead the Speedway's return, Cocopah Speedway is bringing dirt track racing, family entertainment, and community excitement back to Yuma County.
This new era is focused on honoring the Speedway's history while investing in its future through facility improvements, expanded entertainment opportunities, competitive racing, and stronger partnerships with local businesses and organizations.
Our mission is simple: Bring the community together, give racers a place to compete, and create unforgettable experiences for fans of all ages.
More Than Just a Racetrack
As Cocopah Speedway moves forward, our vision extends beyond the racing surface. We're committed to developing a destination for motorsports, special events, family entertainment, local businesses, and community involvement.
From weekly racing and major motorsports events to festivals, entertainment, and community gatherings, we want the Diamond in the Desert to become a place where there's always something exciting happening.
